Day 10 of No Spend July

Day 10

For the entire month of July I am hosting a “No Spend July” here at Stylish Saving!

As many of you know, I am a first grade teacher which means I don’t get paid in the summer. My husband and I have a great budget so we factor this in. After scoping out my pantry and linen closet I have decided to challenge myself to a “No Spend July.” The only exception to this is David’s 29th birthday on July 12th, we will be hosting a birthday party for friends and family. My goal for the party is $30 for everything including food/drinks and gift.

Here’s My Goal for the month of July
- Spend no more than $20 a week on gas/milk/produce groceries (using gift cards for as much of this as possible)
- Find creative recipes to utilize all of the food in my pantry/freezer
- Throw my husband an AWESOME 29th Birthday Party for 20 guests
- Enjoy as many vegetables from my garden as possible
- Find fun free entertainment
- Still “rock” free deals or deals that I pay pennies out of pocket. I still have RR’s to roll, Up+ and ECB’s!

What Will I do with the Money We Save?
- All of the money we save will go in an account to serve as an emergency fund for our family.

How You Can Join in on the Fun!
- Decide to spend as little as possible during the month of July.
- Get creative with your pantry and freezer
- Spend time, not money with/on your family

Each day I will post my menu, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I will also post what we spent. Please leave comments if you are joining in on the fun or just leave words of encouragement for David and I! You can also grab the no spend July button on this page in the upper left hand corner and post it to your blog if you would like!

My Progress:

I have only spent $2 this week! Today will be a pretty big shopping day, I will be buying everything for David's Party.

Are you joining in on the FUN? How are you doing?

Free Gatorade at Lowe's

My Fabulous reader Courtney Left this on my facebook page!

15 bottle case of Gatorade for $9.97 (the cases are marked with the "$10 off..."). Includes a card for $10 off your next purchase of $50 or more at Lowe's. We were going to spend that so we bought the case, brought it to the car and opened it to get the ...$10 card (looked like a gift card, just laying in the case), went in and used it on our purchase. So the gatorade was free!

David's Birthday Menu

David's Birthday Party is Sunday

I tried to plan a menu around what we have in our freezer and pantry. I have a budget of $30 to feed 20 people. I will be shopping tomorrow and will post how much I spend.

The Menu

BBQ Chicken

BBQ Ribs

Hot Dogs for the kids

Orecchiette with Greens, Garbanzo Beans and Ricotta Cheese Salad

Broccoli Salad

Chicken Wing Dip

Chips and Dip

Black Bean & Roasted Red Pepper Dip

Veggies with Hummus

A Sneak Peak at CSN

As most of my readers know, I have a difficult time parting with money unless it is on a quality product that will last a very long time. When David and I moved into our home, we did not rush to furnish it. Moving from a one bedroom apartment to a four bedroom house we were seriously lacking furnishings. I really wish I had known about CSN, a collection of several online stores back then! I started my shopping in their bed section. I found a bed that I absolutely adore. I can't wait to show it to David when he gets home from work.

After looking at the bedroom furniture, I moved on to another store. CSN is a company that has has over 200 stores! Yes, 200 stores! I had so much fun looking at the items in each store. My favorite store was the store dedicated to Rugs. I have been looking for two rugs for my kitchen for quite a while. I found a few "good" ones, but nothing FABULOUS that matched my black and white theme. I just found the PERFECT rug at CSN's Rug store.

Isn't it fabulous! I really can't wait for it to arrive, I will let everyone know how it is in terms of quality and if it matches the description online. I really can't wait, I have gone months without kitchen rugs. While your waiting for my next post, go and check out CSN! You will find more than one fabulous item.

Taco Ring

Taco Ring

This recipe is a twist from Pampered Chef, I love it! I have made it for years. It is my nieces favorite

Ingredients
1/2 lb ground beef fully cooked
1 can re fried beans (I use El Paso)
1 package taco seasoning mix (I use Old El Paso)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (shred your own, it's cheaper)
2 packages refrigerated crescent roll dough
1/2 head shredded lettuce
1 small tomato cut into chunks
1/2 cup sliced black olives
1 cup salsa
1 cup sour cream

Putting it All Together
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine meat, seasoning mix, cheese and re fried beans in a medium pan over medium heat
Arrange both packages of crescent triangles in a circle on a round baking stone, the crescent's should over lap and look like a sun.
Scoop the meat mixture onto the crescent rolls and tuck the tops over the bottom of the crescents.
Bake for about 20 minutes

Place the lettuce, tomatoes and olives in the center of the circle.

Serve with the sour cream and salsa on the side.

I have to share this AWESOME Towel Deal!

Neiman Marcus has their Lauren by Ralph Lauren Towels

Monogrammed on sale.

Bath towel $9.49
Bath Sheet $11.99
Hand Towel $7.49
Tub Mat $13.49

there are 14 colors to choose from and 7 monogram styles with 27 thread colors.

and the SHIPPING IS FREE with JULYNM as the code!

I love these towels, I ordered them last year for my Godfather and ordered a set for David and I. They are high quality and as a newly married couple, I LOVE looking at the Monogram.

I plan to order a few set for upcoming bridal showers and wedding gifts.

They are also great if you have children, you can put their initials on them and they will know which towel belongs to whom :) My mom did this when I was a kid, I was green, my sister Melissa was blue. She always knew who left their towel on the bathroom floor instead of the hamper.
