New To Coupons Series Post #2
New To Couponing Series #2
If You Didn’t Read the First Post in the Series go HERE
How to Organize Your Coupons
There are several ways that you can organize your coupons. It really is a personal choice and you need to determine what best suits your needs.
1. The File Folder Method
This is the method that I use for organizing my coupons. I use the file drawer in my desk which works great because I keep them out of my husband (and small dogs) way. The first thing I do when I get my coupon inserts is write the date on the front page (of each insert) this way it is easy to determine which insert it is if I go “coupon wild” and have several out on my desk at once. Then I place the inserts in a folder labeled with the date. I use a different folder for each week, keeping about 8 weeks of coupons at one time. Before I ditch a coupon insert I am always sure to check the expiration dates. Often times there are a few coupons that have not expired. I clip those and recycle the rest. I keep the single coupons in a basket.
2. The Coupon Box
This method is great if you take all of your coupons with your to the store. I got this method from Crystal over at Money Saving Mom. I used this for a while but gave up when I had to sort through every few weeks to ditch the expired coupons. Head over to her site and search Coupon Organization to see her method

3. The Accordion File
Now this is what I use to think of when I thought of coupons. I think that my Gram had one of these back in the day. This is a good method if you don’t clip a lot of coupons. There is a great video here that Charlene put together
There is a great post here by Mercedes from Common Sense With Money about her method.
I hope this helped!

Walgreens 4/15
I had to take David his lunch today and since it's two blocks from Walgreens I decided to stop. I took advantage of the Sandies Deal here and also the No Nonsense knee high deal here. Like I said with Walgreens you must have the same number of items as you have coupons (or more items) so I needed a filler item. Lucky for David their Easter Candy was 75% off and he got a bag of sweet tart gummies for .62.
Here is my deal
2 pecan sandies
2 knee highs
1 sweet tart gummies
total out off pocket after coupons: $1.62

New To Coupons Series Post #1
Hello Everyone! For the next few days I will be posting a series on Couponing for those of you who may be new to couponing or are just looking for a few helpful hints. I have been couponing for about two years now. I am by no means an expert but I have learned quite a bit over the years.
Where Do My Coupons Come From?
1. The first place to look is in your Sunday newspaper. Almost every Sunday you will find coupons in your paper. Look for the following inserts:
• Smart Source (known around blogs as SS)
• Red Plum (RP)
• Proctor & Gamble (P&G)
Now if you don’t subscribe to the Sunday news I would suggest doing so if you can afford it. My husband and I have a Special with Times Union for Thursday and Sunday delivery. It ends up being about $1.25 a week that’s a savings of .75 cents off the Sunday “cover price.”
As a rule of thumb you should buy one Sunday paper (for the inserts) for each member of your family. In my house I get one delivered to me on Sunday, I scope it out and if I feel it’s a “good week” I will snag another.
2. The Internet. There are a lot of internet coupons out there! The best places to look are
• Coupons.com
• Red plum
• Smart Source
Another great way to get internet printables is to go to your favorite products website and see what is available.
3. Send a nice letter to the maker of your favorite product asking for coupons. I have been quite successful with this method. I head to their website and use the contact form. Hey, the worst thing they can do is say no.
4. Ask friends and family to save their inserts for you! Or post a request on your local CraigsList or FreeCycle.
Look for tomorrows post on how to organize all the coupons you have been collecting!

Walgreens Cheap Cookies 50 cents
My husband LOVES sweets so I will be heading to Walgreens tomorrow to jump on this deal
Keebler Pecan Sandies are on sale this week for $2/5. There is a coupon in the Walgreens April Coupon Book (You can pick this up in the store, usually under this weeks flier) for $2 off of 2. To sweeten this deal you can go here and print off a manufacturer's coupon for a $1.00 off of one. THIS MAKES THEM 50 cents each!
Now Walgreen's let's you stack a manufacturers and a Walgreens coupon, meaning you can use both. The only trick with Walgreen's is that you have to have the same number of items as you have coupons, or more items than coupons. So if you use all three coupons you will need a smaller "filler" item. I usually choose a cute pencil for my prize box at school.
Thanks Couponing to Disney

Walgreens 4/12
I headed over to Walgreens today because I heard that the Schick Save Gel was ROLLING. Which for anyone new means that you can use the $3 Register Reward that you earn for purchasing the Gel on the next one you buy. The only catch with this one is you have to find a cheap filler item. My husband loves beans (I loath them) so I got some of those and a few other items we needed. There were over 100 at the store so I got seven.
Here are my deals~
#1
Schick 2.99
8x10 Photo FREE
Used 2.50 from last weeks Register Rewards (RR)
Out of Pocket (opp) .70 earned a $3 RR
#2
Schick 2.99
Snuggle 3.99
Used the $3 RR from #1 and Snuggle $3 coupon
OPP:1.47 earned $3RR
#3
Schick 2.99
Butterball Broth .99
Used $3 RR from #2, Butterball coupon from the flyer
OPP:.70 Earned $3.
This went on 4 more times-- I ended up with:
7 Schick, 2 Snuggle, 2 Butterball Broth, 1 .99 birthday card, beans Free 8x10 for a grand total of $6.00 out of pocket and $3 RR to spend next time:)
Not too bad!
